There is a classic burger that is not to be missed. I had the cream of tomato soup and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
They have reasonable hours of operating and plenty of space. The prices are also very reasonable.
The salad I has was of a simple iceberg affair with some other flourishes, but generally a no frills offering. You get plenty of crackers for your trouble of ordering a salad.
I would gladly return to eat her next time I am fortunate enough to be back in Chester. -

If you've ever been to Chester you know there's very few options to eat. Spuds is one of the two, an average place to grab a bite and the only place in town open for breakfast. As a matter of fact it's probably the only place between Havre and Shelby open for breakfast. Fortunately, they're open six days a week and offer great service.
This is the kind of place where the cook and waitress know everybody that comes in by first name. In fact, many of the same people eat here every day. And many of those order the same thing every day. If you're from out of town this is going to be an experience for you. Most small towns like this have gone away in the last several decades. You can't beat local service like this.
If you're a foodie you're not going to be impressed here. The food is better than places like Denny's and IHOP, but very similar. All of it comes from a food distributor and isn't fresh. However, it's not greasy and will more than get you by when you're in Wheat Country like this. We've eaten here about a dozen times and never had a bad meal. They always get your order right and prices are more than affordable.
If you're coming here for breakfast they have all your traditional items. Most of us order your traditional bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast. However they do have french toast but no waffles. And the omelets won't disappoint either.
If you're coming for lunch plan on ordering a burger. The Big Montana and the Farmer's Burger are your best options. We've never come here for dinner so we can't comment on that. -

Stayed in this town last night. Spuds is right by the hotel. Food was great I had the bacon cheeseburger and the wife had a burrito. Very well priced and the server was very nice. Food was ready very quickly as well which is always great.

Spud's is right in the heart if Chester. It had burgers, fries, Mexican, melts...pretty much your typical diner fair. They serve Indian tacos which seem to be a regional delicacy.
It's a nice spot to stop for a casual lunch. The food as good and there are even a few vegetarian options. I had the bean burrito but didn't ask if the beans have lard. The burrito was steaming hot inside and came with lettuce, tomato, olives and sour cream on the side. The burrito typically has cheese inside and on top.
Others in our party had burgers and fries and enjoyed them. The cheddar melt had a meat patty in it...so don't make the mistake a vegetarian in our group did.
There aren't a lot of options in Northern Montana, but if you're looking for no frills good food, Spud's will do right by you. -

Stopped in for breakfast while passing through heading to Shelby. My husband and I both had the Spanish omelette with hash browns and sour dough toast. The portions were large and everything was quite tasty. There were quite a few locals there whom seemed to all know each other. We would stop in again if we were in the area. Service was good
